discography

a mess of thought

original release date: july 28th, 2016
uploaded to streaming services: december 7th, 2016

this was my first ever collection of music i uploaded to streaming services. it used to feel so much more complicated back then and now it's amazing how much has changed since i made this.

i'll be honest, i don't even think i knew how to EQ on this record. i am a self-taught producer and it's always fun to just listen to where i came from.

you can tell i was exploring and trying to find my sound on here with all of myΒ twenty one pilots /Β flatsound inspiration at the time. not to mention, this album was heavily inspired by watching the movie perks of being a wallflower.

favorite track: can't feel for you

and i wonder if you feel like i do

release date: january 23rd, 2017

this is my longest album to date at 31 minutes and 41 seconds. i was going through a lot of changes in life at the time, trying to better understand how i wanted to approach my music path as a whole. still doing vocals for a metal band at the time, it was a newfound passion of playing the ukulele that really helped recharged my writing as a solo artist.

the song lengths were pretty ambitious admittedly but i'm really happy i did it. still 2 of my best ukulele songs as well!

favorite track: can you catch me?

the disconnect

release date: september 1st, 2017

this was a big moment for me in my music career. i had just left my band less than a month prior and fully realized that this was what i wanted to build on. carrying on as simply "mike bliss"Β and belonging to no one but myself creatively was very scary, but freeing.

i intentionally tried to create a concise, smaller collection of music this time around because i wanted to priortize getting more people to try my stuff out for the first time after leaving the metal music scene.

"it's my birthday and i'm alone" is a track i made and recorded on the day of my real birthday that year, which in turn gave people from all over the world the opportunity to celebrate with others in the comments section of the youtube upload. a moment as an artist where i finally felt my work truly began to connect with people, ironically enough.

favorite track: someone to drive with

here's to getting better

release date: april 27th, 2018

this EP contains my absolute BEST ukulele riffs in my opinion. i also love the album art so much because sunset pictures have always been so beautiful to me. i spent a lot of nights around this time staying up just to capture anything from the first moments of morning.

fun fact, the opening track "polaroid" was performed at an open mic once with one of my best friends and current roommate, jeffrey!

favorite track: by morning, we'll be fine

curtain

release date: may 29, 2020

this EP is summed up in one word: PANDEMIC.

this was pretty experimental for me honestly. i wrote some tracks directly on piano for the first time, in addition to writing stuff on the ukulele to translate onto recordings.

additionally, this marked the first time i ever did a listening party during one of my streams on twitch. little did i know that these would become a staple of my channel.

runaway

release date: june 18th, 2021

at this point, i KNEW i would never grow my hair out this long ever again so i decided to document it alongside my music. this is how i looked during what felt like a neverending covid nightmare.

i was too scared to go out, interact with anyone, becoming stir crazy in my environment. i spent a lot of time trying to take walks around the neighborhood and those were my moments of peace. i looked forward to writing for this EP and going outside, just to walk and listen to my newest mixes.

i look back on this time with so much emotion because it did feel so helpless. easily some of my best and favorite lyrics on here though as a result of that, i'd say.Β

favorite track: your type

mania

release date: december 31st, 2021

to this day i have no idea how i created this EP the same year as runaway.

pardon my language, but these tracks are so fucking dark. i was feeling so lost in life and i went searching for myself deep within these songs. started in the summer and ending in the heart of winter, the recording sessions were very meticulous and lengthy.

the grit, the angst, the distortion, the sheer loneliness, it's truly something i could never replicate ever again.Β

this was my first time discovering the vocoder and damn does it feel like it was perfectly born into my sound across the record. the whole driving force behind "bloody mouth"Β being a robot voice version of me is nothing i ever imagined would've been attached to my music, and that track almost didn't even make the record. what a mistake that would've been!

favorite track: good times

the party
